Adrian Warnock on Christ’s Penal Substitution For Us on the Cross

by: John Park, March 31st, 2010

This concept is taken from Romans, Isaiah 53, and elsewhere in Scripture.  It can easily be explained to a child, yet its depths continue to puzzle the professor.  A divine exchange occurred. He took our sin; we gained his righteousness.  As a result, God’s attitude toward us changed, and now we are forgiven, and the guilt of sin is washed away.  God now sees us covered in the righteousness of his Son.  With our debt paid, we come freely and boldly into the presence of a holy God.

An Opportunity to Join God’s Work in Japan

by: John Park, March 5th, 2010

John Piper:

Michael Oh spoke at our 2009 Desiring God Conference or Pastors. I love his vision for Japan. As a Korean this commitment has the Christ-like flavor of reconciliation and risk. I would like for you to know him and, if God leads, support his vision. He is president and founder of Christ Bible Seminary in Nagoya and a cluster of other ministries under Christ Bible Institute. Here is a short video where Michael presents the amazing opportunity for this seminary and church to be housed in downtown Nagoya.

How to Die Well

by: John Park, March 4th, 2010

Timmy Brister:

26 years ago (1984), John Piper said the following:

Dear people, life is short and life is precious. Don’t waste it on superficial things. Grow deep. Get ready to die well. Give yourself unreservedly to what matters. Fling away sham. Be real with God and real with man. Cherish the eternal in everything. Take hold of life which is life indeed. Turn off the television. Turn off the radio. Why should mere man choreograph your emotions? O, for more deep individuals and fewer herd people! Go deep with God. Be alone. Come forth like humble steel. There is no other way to die well. Nothing is more lonely than dying. If your life is not deep in Christ alone, death will be a terrible thing. Get ready. And in getting ready you will be the deep aroma of God in a tragically superficial world.

Prosperity Gospel = Voodoo

by: John Park, February 26th, 2010

Here’s a clip from Pastor Mark Driscoll’s trip to Haiti where he talks with a Haitian pastor about the relationship between voodoo (which is prevalent in Haiti) and the prosperity gospel (which is prevalent here in the U.S.).  A good reminder to us all.  Here’s the video:
